Plan Summary
The Marketing specialisation is designed for students interested in an intellectually rigorous as well as managerially relevant approach to marketing. The specialisation prepares students for a career in: product management; customer services and tourism; new product planning; international marketing and management; logistics and distribution; sales and purchasing; advertising; direct marketing and public relations; marketing research and management consulting; e-business; as well as general management.
This specialisation is concerned with demand generation and exchange processes in competitive markets, both domestically and internationally. The specialisation takes an intellectually rigorous approach, drawing not only on the general field of marketing but also the related disciplines of economics, finance, psychology, sociology, mathematics and statistics. In order to qualify for the Marketing specialisation, students must complete:
4 core courses: 2 disciplinary core courses:

For those students who wish to extend their MCom (Marketing) specialisation, it is recommended that the electives be taken from the following: Note: COMM5001, COMM5002 and COMM5003 must be taken at the beginning of studies, and COMM5004 must be taken at the end of the program.
Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS)
Postgraduate MCom in Marketing students at UNSW are able to obtain the AMSRS Certificate in Market Research if they have successfully completed a number of approved courses. The AMSRS Certificate in Market Research is widely recognised by government and industry as a measure of competence in market research.
