 Information Systems and Information Technology

Description

Information Systems (IS) use computers and communication networks to acquire, organise and process information, enabling people and organisations to be more creative and productive. Studying information systems involves learning to: understand the needs of individuals and organisations; design and develop systems to meet those needs and solve real-life problems; and implement and continually adapt these systems to changing organisational needs.

The IS/IT industry is one of the fastest growing in the Australian economy. Employers value graduates who demonstrate skills and knowledge in both business and information technology domains, and are creative and entrepreneurial. Career opportunities for IS graduates are many and varied, including: Business Analyst, Business Developer – IS/IT Solutions, Business Intelligence Systems Developer, e-Commerce Specialist, IS Development Specialist, IS/IT Architect, IS/IT Consultant, IT Infrastructure Developer, Network Analyst, Network Developer, Project Management Specialist and Systems Analyst.
