Advanced Chinese Studies - CHINB13722 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The School of Languages and Linguistics offers a flexible program for students with different interests and different Chinese language backgrounds. Students can enter Chinese language courses at different levels, depending on their knowledge of Chinese characters. Within each year, students are allocated to different groups, depending on their speaking ability.
This plan is available to students commencing at Advanced and Professional Studies entry levels. In order to count Advanced Chinese Studies as a major sequence, students must complete 42 units of credit in Chinese language and Chinese Studies courses including two Level 3 or 2 Level 4 (Professional Elective) courses.
Year 1 CHIN3006 and CHIN3007 (12uoc)
Year 2 1 Professional Elective course (6uoc) plus 1 Chinese Studies/Professional Elective course (6uoc) Year 3 3 Chinese Studies/Professional Elective courses (18uoc) Professional Studies entry level Year 1 1 Professional Elective course (6uoc) plus 1 Chinese Studies/Professional Elective course (6uoc)
Year 2 2 Chinese Studies/Professional Elective courses (12uoc) Year 3 3 Chinese Studies/Professional Elective courses (18uoc)
Honours level study is available in Chinese Studies. Students interested in Honours should refer to the Honours plan record for entry requirements.
A placement test will be held before the commencement of session to ensure that students join the appropriate groups. Students will not be permitted to enrol in language courses that are too easy for them in terms of Chinese character knowledge. If this occurs, the School will request that students change their enrolment. The decision of the School is final.
For students admitted in their first year of study to CHIN2006 or higher on the grounds of ability and/or previous study, such courses will be counted as Level 1 courses in terms of degree requirements. |
