Within each year, students are allocated to different groups, depending on their speaking ability.

This plan is available to students commencing at Advanced and Professional Studies entry levels.

In order to count Advanced Chinese Studies as a major sequence, students must complete 42 units of credit in Chinese language and Chinese Studies courses including two Level 3 or 2 Level 4 (Professional Elective) courses.

Honours

Honours level study is available in Chinese Studies. Students interested in Honours should refer to the Honours plan record for entry requirements.

Placement test

A placement test will be held before the commencement of session to ensure that students join the appropriate groups. Students will not be allowed to enrol in language courses that are too easy for them in terms of Chinese character knowledge. If this occurs, the Department will request that students change their enrolment. The decision of the Department is final.
