The Accounting specialisation is ideal for students who have no or limited exposure to the study of accounting and who wish to enhance their knowledge and understanding of accounting.

This specialisation focuses on the use of financial information by managers, owners, creditors and other stakeholders to achieve business objectives. This specialisation can be tailored by the student to meet individual career needs. Students can select courses in: financial accounting; managerial accounting; and auditing and assurance services.

In order to qualify for the Accounting specialisation, students must complete

4 core courses

2 disciplinary core courses:

and 2 elective courses selected from MCom offerings.

Note: Students who commenced prior to 2007 can complete COMM5004 instead of COMM5005.

Chartered Secretaries Australia Ltd (CSA).

The CSA is the professional association for 10,000 company secretaries and corporate managers in Australia. It also operates as the Australian Division of the International, 70,000 member strong, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators to which most CSA members also belong. CSA also sets the standards for entry into the profession through the Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.

The CSA accredits subjects which, if completed, count towards the academic requirements of both professional associations. During the course of their studies, students are encouraged to become CSA Student Members.
