Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes
Requirements for the Bachelor of International Studies in Dual Mode
Program Structure
- International Studies core (12 UOC)*
- Language Study Core (24 UOC )
- A Major Stream (54 UOC)
- Overseas Study Program (48 UOC)
- General Education (6 UOC)
*Dual Mode with Bachelor of Media (PR & Advertising) - General Education Requirement
Because both Dual programs are internal to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences the General Education (GE) Exemption for dual programs does not apply.
Students enrolled in International Studies/Media(PR&A) dual degree mode complete ARTS2092 Global Media rather than ARTS2240 Environment and Development. ARTS2092 is double counted as their Media Prescribed Elective. However, students completing the International Business stream in the Bachelor of International Studies complete ARTS2240, as the external International Business stream is deemed to meet the General Education requirement.
Students in International Studies/Media(PR&A) also complete one less course from their PR&A prescribed electives in their media program.
The 12 UOC made available is then used to meet the General Education requirement for this dual degree program.
