This plan is for a double major in Japanese Studies.

Plan Structure


A double major consists of 84 units of credit of which each approved discipline is 42 units of credit (excluding Industrial Training components when included in program requirements).

To obtain a double major in Japanese Studies, a student must complete 42 units of credit in Japanese Studies:
(1) 24 units of credit or more from Japanese language core courses;
(2) either JAPN2500 or JAPN3900;
(3) the remaining units of credit to be from Culture and Professional Language Elective courses.

Honours


Honours level study is available in Japanese Studies. Students interested in Honours should refer to the Honours plan record for entry requirements.

Placement Information


Students with prior knowledge of Japanese sit for a placement test in order to gain entry to an appropriate language course. Please refer to the School Website for further information.

For students admitted in their first year of study to JAPN2000 or higher on the grounds of ability and/or previous study, such courses will be counted as Level 1 courses in terms of degree requirements.
