Program Description

The Master of Science program is suited to practising Food Technologists and graduates wishing to develop and expand their knowledge and skills in their area of expertise along with technology management in order to enhance their career opportunities in a particular area. A student must hold a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from UNSW with at least Honours II/2, or equivalent in an appropriate discipline, in order to be admitted to the program.

Program Structure
Graduate programs are available for Master of Science by Coursework degrees in the following streams:
- Food Technology FOODFS8033
- Food Microbiology FOODBS8033

- Food Science and Nutrition A FOODDS8033
- A major strand of related material comprising approximately 75% of the total program, including a project comprising not less than 12.5% nor more than 25% of the program.
- A minor strand of broader based material comprising up to 25% of the total program.
- Undergraduate material may be included in one or both strands but will not be included in units of credit.
- At least 60% of the non-project component must be taken in the School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering unless otherwise approved by the Program Coordinator. The remainder, subject to approval and availability, may be undertaken elsewhere in the University.
