Optometry - 7435 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Graduate Certificate in Optometry program provides advanced training in clinical and theoretical aspects of Optometry, with opportunities for specialisation in fields such as contact lenses, or behavioural optometry. The graduate certificate consists of 24 units of credit. One core course of 6 UOC must be completed in the first session of this program, and the remaining 18 units of credit are gained by successful completion of elective courses. The program may be completed in one session full-time or two or more sessions part-time. On successful completion of the GradCert, students may decide to continue with postgraduate study at a higher level, and may chose not to accept the GradCert award and instead use all 24 UOC towards a GradDip or MOptom. Alternatively, if the GradDip is awarded, 18 UOC may be used in this way. Thus postgraduate students may progress towards a higher degree at a level of their choice. This system is intended to make postgraduate study accessable to optometrists with time constraints.
Courses offered will only be conducted if there is sufficient demand. For information on which courses are being run refer to www.optom.unsw.edu.au. Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes Please contact the School office for information.
