Faculty Website Overview UNSW was founded to provide leadership in Science, Engineering and Technology and is one of the most exciting centres in Australia and internationally for teaching and education in many areas of science. The Faculty of Science is at the forefront of many new developments in science and is renowned for the range and quality of its research. We attract some of the best Australian and international scientists and have award winning Federation fellows, Eureka prize winners and Rhodes scholars amongst our scientific research staff. Their expertise is reflected in our teaching programs.
Many governments around the world now recognise the fundamental relationship between scientific and technological leadership and economic development. Technological innovation, based on the creative application of new scientific knowledge, has already transformed all of the major economies of the world. Greater investment in new technology-based industries, new social expectations and growing environmental pressures, have also combined to add to the demand for science graduates with in-depth knowledge and an ability to think outside the square. For information on the programs of study offered by the Faculty, please refer to the relevant discipline and program entries in this online Handbook and to the Faculty website (www.science.unsw.edu.au). The Science homepage has links to all School, Department and other Unit sites. We look forward to welcoming you to UNSW.
