Plan Outline

Master of Commerce (MCom) students must complete:
• 4 core courses
• 6 specialisation courses (made up of 2 specialist core courses and 4 specialisation elective courses)
• 2 elective courses - students can choose electives to deepen their specialisations or can choose any other Master of Commerce course where prerequisites are met.

Master of Commerce (Extension) (MCom(Ext)) students with only one specialisation must complete:
• 4 core courses
• 6 specialisation courses (made up of 2 specialist core courses and 4 specialisation elective courses)
• 6 elective courses - students can choose electives to deepen their specialisations or can choose any other Master of Commerce course where prerequisites are met.

Master of Commerce (Extension) (MCom(Ext)) students with two specialisations must complete:
• 4 core courses
• 6 specialisation courses from the first specialisation
• 6 specialisation courses from the second specialisation
• No electives

Note: Students who wish to obtain an accounting qualification which meets CPA Australia and ICAA professional requirements should undertake the Master of Professional Accounting program (8409).

Plan Structure

In order to complete the Master of Commerce program with an Accounting specialisation, students must complete 4 core courses
(It is recommended that all core cores are taken in the first semester)

plus 2 specialist core courses
and 4 specialist courses to be selected from the following list
and up to 6 elective courses selected from MCom offerings depending on the program and number of specialisations chosen. Please refer to the Plan Outline for further information.

Note: Students who commenced prior to 2007 can complete COMM5004 instead of COMM5005.
