Managing the Accounting and Finance Function - ACCT5921 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description This unit of study examines the ways in which the accounting and finance function engages with the process of business enterprise management. The course considers the substantive ways in which the accounting and finance function contributes to this aspect of organisational practice, as well as considering the competencies required by accounting and finance specialists for this – especially as they progress towards positions of authority and leadership. In addition, a range of special topics reflecting contemporary issues in the management of the accounting and finance function will be considered. Although this course does not have a prerequisite, it is designed for postgraduate students who have some experience of organisational life and are seeking ways of framing, understanding, and developing these experiences. The course is also suitable for students who have acquired a good grasp of the technical aspects of accounting and finance in previous studies but wish to locate this knowledge in a professional/organisational context.
