Overview
UNSW was founded to provide leadership in Science, Engineering and Technology and is one of the most exciting centres in Australia and internationally for teaching and education in many areas of science. UNSW Science is at the forefront of many new developments in science and is renowned for the range and quality of its research.
With UNSW Science you will explore, discover and make a difference. We have a welcoming and vibrant community of approximately 5,900 full-time students, with an academic staff of approximately 550 and professional staff of 300. The Faculty operational budget is approximately $85 million annually. The research income is approximately $89 million annually.
Our students are high achievers, attracted by the university’s international reputation and the high ranking of our scientific research schools. We offer them excellence and innovation in teaching along with state-of-the- art laboratories and facilities within our 9 Schools of Aviation, Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Optometry and Vision Science, Psychology and Physics.
Our award-winning researchers are leaders in their fields generating discoveries, new ideas and inventions that will benefit society. We host a number of centres of national and international importance including the ARC Centres of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology and Climate System Science.
We are well connected to the changing world of business, and work closely with a number of high profile industry partners to give our students and staff real-world opportunities.
