Political Economy - PECOA13538 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This plan is only available to students commencing 2009 onwards
The study of Political Economy introduces students to the competing approaches to understanding the operation of a modern market economy. Unlike traditional economics programs, which are mathematically orientated, Political Economy takes a historical perspective and focusses on the application of principles to the 'real' world. The study of Political Economy is primarily through the School of Social Sciences and International Studies and the School of Economics. For a major sequence in Political Economy students must complete a total of 48 units of credit made up of the three core PECO courses plus five elective courses (which must include at least one 3000 level course) from the list below. Electives may be taken at other institutions offering a Political Economy program with the permission of the Coordinator.
Students may substitute the two courses (12 uoc) in Studies of the Region for any of the courses required by the major provided they are approved by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Honours level study is available in Political Economy, subject to the approval of the Coordinator.
