Plan Outline

  • For a double major, 6 courses (36 UOC) must be completed in addition to completion of the BEc Program Compulsory Level 1 Core Courses.

Plan Structure

Students must have completed the Compulsory Level 1 core requirements. In addition, students must complete six(6) Level 2 (ECON2XXX) and Level 3 (ECON2XXX) courses from the Required and Elective course lists below. Students must complete three (3) Level 2 and three (3) Level 3 courses. All ECON courses are worth 6 UOC.

Elective courses
  • Elective courses may be taken from the full list of Level 3 courses offered by the School of Economics.
  • A Level 2 elective may be taken where, and only where, one of the required Level 2 courses counts towards another Major or Minor. Students should refer to the list of Level 2 courses offered by the School of Economics.

List of Level 3 courses

Minor
For a minor in Economics, students must complete the Level 1 core requirements for the BEc program. In addition, students must complete four (4) courses from the required course list above. If one of the courses from the required course list counts towards another Major or Minor, a course from the Elective course list can be taken. Regardless, students must complete one Level 3 course.

Honours

Honours level study is available for students completing the Economics major. The following courses are recommended as a good preperation for Honours:
  • One of ECON3101 Markets and Public Choice; or ECON3121; or ECON3123
Students interested in studying at Honours level should refer to the relevant Honours plan record for entry requirements.
