Plan Outline

This plan only applies to students who commenced their degree program before 2009.

The School offers a range of courses for students with different interests and different language background. The French program has a flexible entry-point policy, which allows students to enrol in the language program that builds on their existing language skills.

French is the language of instruction in most courses.

Plan Structure

To count French as a major sequence, students must complete 42 units of credit in French courses including at least 12 units of credit (or six units of credit for those commencing in ARTS1480) from upper level French electives. One approved course with EURO or LING prefix may be credited towards a French major.

Placement Information

Students who wish to enrol in a language course without completing the necessary prerequisites are required to complete an online placement application form before the commencement of the semester.

For more information, please see the School Website.

For students admitted in their first year of study to FREN2101 / ARTS2480 or higher on the grounds of ability and/or previous study, such courses will be counted as Level 1 courses in terms of degree requirements.
