Key French Texts of C20th - FREN3313 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description Enables students to read in depth and in the original language key texts in twentieth-century French literature and/or philosophy, and places the texts in their social, political and cultural context. This year the topic is 'Justice and Terror in the Theatre of Camus', which focuses on the study of political, ethical and social questions in Camus's plays - primarily 'Caligula' and 'Les Justes'. Students will investigate how in these works Camus looked to the past to address issues of major importance both for his time and for ours: for example justice, terrorism and the freedom of the individual and the community.
