Plan Outline

This plan is for a major in History and Philosophy of Science. History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) is the field that deals with the nature, history, social shaping and social impacts of science, technology and medicine.

Plan Structure

Students are required to complete 48 units of credit in approved HPSC courses.
  • 6 or 12 units of credit in Level 1 HPSC courses
  • 24 units of credit in Level 2 HPSC courses, including at least 12 units of credit from


  • 18 units of credit in Level 3 HPSC courses
