Plan Structure

Honours (Year 4) - Required

Entry Requirements

  • Undertaking a Marketing major in one of the above programs
  • Credit average in all courses and
  • Credit average or above in marketing courses

How To Apply

There is a a five-step procedure:
  1. For those 2nd or 3rd year students who wish to enrol in the Honours program, the School of Marketing requires that you submit a formal application to the Honours Coordinator. This should state your interest in the program in general and your area of interest in marketing in particular.
  2. Upon receipt of your application, your academic record will be examined. You are required to achieve at least a credit average in all courses and credit or above in your marketing courses. More attention is given to performance in the 2nd and 3rd year subjects
  3. If you meet the formal requirements you will be asked to come in for a personal interview to help us determine your suitability for the program. At this stage we will discuss possible research topics and consider how your interests can be matched to the research strengths of the School.
  4. Should you meet the admission criteria and be accepted after your interview, you will be offered a conditional admission to the Honours program. You will then be invited to attend the School of Marketing Research Seminars and participate in some informal gatherings to discuss your selected area or research in the second session of the 3rd year.
  5. Formal admission to the Honours program will be offered upon satisfactory completion of all subjects at the end of 3rd year and a positive review by the staff involved in your informal meetings.
These requirements are designed to give you a flavour for the program in advance, before you commit a year of your life to it. They also allow us to gauge whether we think you are likely to be a successful in the Honours program.
