Description Field-based course in New Zealand to explore coupled human-environment systems context of natural hazards. Explore key hazards and their management in the field; include measurement of human and physical system problems; data collection and analysis; pre-departure essay; post-field report; teamwork with oral presentations whilst in the field. Topics include earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides; human perception; building design; urban planning; risk management; case studies. Students will incur costs to cover airfare, insurance, ground transportation, accommodation and food.
Note: This course is in a short course format with 2 days at UNSW and 6 days in New Zealand.
