Description Transmission Lines: structures, transmission line parameters, characteristic impedance, propagation constant, reflection and transmission coefficients, Smith Chart, transmission line applications. Review of Vector tools: grad, div, curl and theorems; coordinate systems. Review of Electrostatics and Magnetostatics. Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic boundary conditions; wave equation and time harmonic fields. From Theory to Practice: solution of antenna radiation and wave propagation problems. Propagation: Plane wave propagation in lossless and lossy media, normal and oblique incidence to conducting and dielectric boundaries, reflection and transmission coefficients; propagation over the Earth (free space, ground wave, ionospheric and diffraction effects).
