Description

Focuses on the major trends and developments in 20th century concert music through a study of technical processes in a wide range of listening examples. Includes recent Australian music.


Learning Outcomes

This course is designed to enable students to:
  • Develop an understanding of the major developments in composition during the twentieth century
  • Develop an understanding of analytical techniques and apply them to various musical styles of the twentieth century
  • Develop advanced score reading skills
  • Acquire critical listening skills and familiarity with a cross-section of the repertory of twentieth century music
  • Articulate logical argument in writing and verbally.
