Description

Develops skills in arranging, orchestration and preparation of music scores through the study of instrumental techniques, a historically wide range of orchestral scores, listening and practical exercises.


Learning Outcomes

  • Detailed knowledge of all the instruments of the orchestra and how they have been used by a wide range of composers throughout music history
  • Appreciation of the compositional choices in instrumentation made by composers
  • Demonstrated enhanced score reading and listening skills in discriminating between orchestral textures
  • Practical experience and the ability to notate and arrange for a wide range of instrumental groups.
