Description

Seminar devoted to exploring the processes in research on music through discussion, and the development of individually chosen research projects on a wide range of topics in musicology, ethnomusicology and music education. Culminates in the preparation and submission of an extended formal research project on an approved topic.

Note: Recommended for students intending to do Honours.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should have:
  • Enhanced research and writing skills
  • Deeper understanding of research methods and practices
  • Experience in writing an extended (7000 words) research paper.

Assessment

  • Research paper - 70%
  • Progress presentation - 20%
  • Contribution to discussions - 10%
