Description

An introduction to writing for a performance space, with special focus on the writer and her/his material. Practical exercises and discussion which develop some strategies for approaching writing for live performance.


Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:
  • Analyse different approaches to writing for performance and examples of specific works
  • Identify and develop a mode of writing most suited to their specific performance intentions and be able to discuss their relationship to the work produced
  • Develop reflective and critical responses as performance-makers, audiences or collaborators.

Assessment

  • Participation - 15%
  • Portfolio - 25%
  • Writing project (1500 words) - 60%
