Description

Consists of 40 days experience in a New South Wales secondary school. Observation of lessons conducted by experienced teachers; planning and delivery of lessons, under the direction of supervising teachers. Organisational aspects of a high school and activities other than those related to subject delivery, eg school policies and general supervision of school students.

Note: In order to facilitate placement, students must contact the School of Education by the end of Week 4 in Session 1 preceding the session in which they are intending to do the course.

Students are required to attend a compulsory Orientation meeting. Time and venue to be advised.

This course requires the successful completion of 6 UOC in Teaching Method courses and attendance at a compulsory Child Protection and Legal Issues lecture. Time and venue to be advised.


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course students should be able to:
  • Develop effective teaching and classroom management skills
  • Construct, implement and evaluate programs of appropriate learning experiences
  • Foster an understanding and an appreciation of the role of teachers within both the school and its community.
