Description

Surveys variation in the major physical and psychological traits relevant to education, particularly ability, personality and sex differences, and examines how educators can best deal with these differences.


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Cite the main dimensions of human variation
  • Understand how these impact in the education system
  • Understand the advantages and disadvantages of various ways of coping with them
  • Understand some major controversies surrounding human variation.

Assessment

  • Essay 1 (1500 words) - 25%
  • Essay 2 (1500 words) - 25%
  • Final exam - 50%
