Description

A study of the nature and measurement of a variety of personality characteristics, moods and attitudes commonly encountered in learning situations and their effect on learning. Relationships between personality and subject preferences and possible subsequent occupations.


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Explain human behaviours from various theoretical perspectives
  • Understand major issues involved in personality assessment
  • Discuss how students' beliefs about self, their ability and the nature of knowledge influence learning and achievement
  • Understand the role of mood and emotional intelligence in learning and achievement
  • Conduct a research exercise relating a personality characteristic to a number of independent variables.

  • Quiz - 10%
  • Action project report (1500 words) - 40%
  • Oral presentation - 10%
  • Two class tests - 40%
