Description

Examines the concepts of emotion, stress and anxiety and their effects in both students and teachers. Discusses a range of physiological and psychological aspects, and the impact of the individual's state on performance outcomes. Includes possible management procedures.


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Explain stress and anxiety from various theoretical perspectives
  • Understand physiological, psychological, and social mechanisms of stress and coping
  • Discuss stress and coping in educational contexts
  • Conduct an action research exercise relating diagnoses and coping strategies.

Assessment

  • Essay (3000 words) - 40%
  • Action project report - 30%
  • Presentation - 10%
  • Class tests - 20%
