Description

An examination of some major post-colonial issues in Australian writing of the twentieth century.


Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Engage in close readings of set texts
  • Gain an understanding of some of the theories and practices that constitute Australian writing
  • Critically analyse literary and visual texts to locate the significance of these theories and practices
  • Hone creative, research and writing skills through the fulfilment of assessments
  • Extend communicational and collaborative skills through teamwork in tutorial discussions.

Assessment

  • In-class minor writing task (approx. 500 words) - 10%
  • In-class test - 30%
  • Major essay (max. 3000 words) - 45%
  • Tutorial participation - 15%
