Description

Includes private tuition and examination on major instrument, participation in university ensembles, plus classes in performance studies and electives in composing, jazz studies or musicology.


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students will:
  • Have an understanding of the breadth of performance studies and the resources available for studying musical performance
  • Have acquired skills in critical listening and assessment of performance
  • Have engaged with the differences between musical styles/periods and the performance requirements of instruments/voices
  • Have begun the process of developing both individual and ensemble skills in practical musical performance
  • Have elected and begun to study composition or musicological study in the support of performance.
