Description Examines socio- and geo-political forces outside the educational institution that shape which languages we learn, and how we learn them. Explores the concepts of global languages, linguistic imperialism, language death, language planning, and language birth, and examines the acquistion of the first language, bilingualism, and general factors affecting the choice and learning or acquisition of second and subsequent languages.
