Description Explores the origins of modern Jewish nationalism, Zionism, in the mid-nineteenth century and charts its development through to the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. Discusses the influence of emancipation, nationalism, socialism and anti-semitism. Concludes by considering the debate on post-Zionism and the challenges it may present for Israel and the Jewish Diaspora.
