Description

Critical readings of Indonesian and English texts raising key issues in analysing Indonesian society and language; questions, themes and debates which have shaped current perceptions of Indonesia; tools and methods for conducting research in Indonesian Studies.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students should:
  • Have acquired a basis for critical readings of Indonesian and English texts raising key issues in analysing Indonesian society and language; questions, themes and debates which have shaped current perceptions of Indonesia; tools and methods for conducting research in Indonesian Studies.

Assessment

  • Participation - 20%
  • Four short translations - 20%
  • Three research proposals (2500 words each) - 60% (20% each)
