Description

Aims to enable students to advance their ability to understand and use Greek accurately, and to develop a structural understanding of Greek to the point where it can become a professional asset. Includes a review of Modern Greek grammar. Reading will be taught partly through a selection of literary texts.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, students should:

Extend their comprehension and translation skills
Gain an advanced understanding of the structure of Greek language (Grammar and syntax)
Be able to write complex essays of 400-500 words
Demonstrate public speaking and interactive communication skills
Acquire an empirical understanding of aspects of Greek and Australian post war societies.

Written assignments - 30%
Aural assessment - 20%
Oral assessment - 10%
Participation - 25%
End of session test - 15%
