Description
A close study of three French novels from the realist tradition of the nineteenth century. While studying each work in its historical and social context, the course will also observe the evolution of major themes and/or structural aspects.

- Gain confidence in reading long narrative texts in French
- Gain an appreciation of realist tradition in the French novel, and understand the historical background of France in the 19th century
- Develop advanced reading and writing skills in French.
