Description
An introduction to the politics, history, thought, language and literature of Russia, which seeks to provide a broad understanding of the Russian past and present and the basis for some predictions for the future, and to signal directions for further study.
Learning Outcomes
- Develop an understanding and ability to evaluate critically Russian politics, history, thought, art and literature as a complex cultural phenomenon
- Develop independent research methods in these areas, as well as analytical and presentation skills.
Assessment
- Oral class presentation - 10%
- Written submission (1200 words) - 25%

- Essay (2500 words) - 50%
