Description

Introduces students to pedagogy in general and considers how dance may best be taught in the context of the Australian secondary school system.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

Identify the standards of professional practice
Identify the characteristics of an effective teacher
Identify the characteristics of effective teaching in dance performance, composition and appreciation
Demonstrate a general understanding of the Dance Stage 5 and 6 Syllabuses
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in teaching components of the Dance Syllabuses.

Participation (Log book) - 30%
Preparation (Lesson plans) - 30%
Teaching practice (Performance, composition and choreography) - 40%
