Description

An examination of some major post-colonial issues in Australian writing of the twentieth century.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

Engage in close readings of set texts
Gain an understanding of some of the theories and practices that constitute Australian writing
Critically analyse literary and visual texts to locate the significance of these theories and practices
Hone creative, research and writing skills through the fulfilment of assessments
Extend communicational and collaborative skills through teamwork in tutorial discussions.

Assessment

In-class minor writing task (approx. 500 words) - 10%
In-class test - 30%
Major essay (max. 3000 words) - 45%
Tutorial participation - 15%
