Surveying & Spatial Info Sys - 2721 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The School is one of the leading schools in Surveying and Spatial Information Systems in Australia. It is one of only two such Schools in the Group of Eight (Go8) Universities, and it has an above-average success rate in attracting funding from competitive research funding bodies, such as the Australian Research Council. Its graduates over the past 40 years are leaders in research, academia and industry, both in Australia and overseas. At the postgraduate level there are strong PhD research and course work programs at both the Master's and Graduate Diploma. The new Federal Government-supported Cooperative Research Centre in Spatial Information has a major presence on the UNSW campus and there is very strong relationship between it and the School.
The School's developing research interests lie in satellite navigation and wireless positioning technologies, in their broadest sense, and in their applications. There is a particular interest in developments in Satellite Geodesy, DInSAR & deformation monitoring, GIS (mobile applications and databases, wireless data access), in imaging for InSAR & photogrammetry, and applications of these to Cadastral Systems, Engineering Surveying and Survey Instrumentation. Opportunities are provided for graduate research leading to the award of the degree Master of Engineering. Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes Please contact the School of Surveying & Spatial Information Systems or the Faculty of Engineering for information.
