Telecommunications Engineering is an area of specialisation within the field of Electrical Engineering. It is concerned with all aspects of theory and applications for a broad range of systems such as telephone and data networks, radio and television broadcasting, satellite and deep space applications.
The study of Telecommunications may also involve research in digital communications, microwaves and antennas, optical communications (including the design and manufacture of lasers and optical fibres), signal and information processing and satellite mobile communications. Employment as a telecommunications engineer involves the planning, design, commissioning and monitoring of complex telecommunications networks and associated broadcasting equipment Studying Telecommunications Engineering at UNSW The study of Telecommunications at UNSW is primarily through the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (www.eet.unsw.edu.au ).
