The Master of Information Systems Management (MISM) program is designed to be a more comprehensive, challenging and contemporary program, based on a set of Information Systems (IS) executive core competencies established through extensive US and EU research on IS skills.

The objectives of the MISM are to provide graduates with:

1. the competencies needed for contemporary mid-level to ‘C’ level IT management, including:

• a thorough understanding of the conceptual, theoretical and practical frameworks underpinning a broad range of IT management functions
• the application of these concepts, theories, frameworks, techniques and skills.

2. an awareness of contemporary issues and development in the new and emerging national and international IT management landscape.
3. exposure to world-class industry thinkers and leaders in IT management.
4. the critical thinking and problem solving skills to develop their personal career ambitions.
5. a dynamic, interactive, team-based learning environment with professional and experienced colleagues.
6. an awareness of what career paths and option exist for graduates.

Admission to the Masters in Information Systems Management is based on relevant academic qualifications and professional experience.

There are two categories of entry:

1 year program – Applicants with either of the following:

(a) A recognised related Bachelor Honours degree (or equivalent qualification) with a major in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Software Engineering and a credit average overall, as determined by the Australian School of Business.

or

(b) A recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) with a major in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer, Science or Software Engineering, with a credit average overall and a minimum of two years of full-time relevant professional experience after the completion of the degree, as determined by the Australian School of Business.

These students must complete Core 2 and the Capstone plus 2 electives (48 UOC).

18 month program – Applicants with the following:

A recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) and a minimum of 1 year relevant professional experience, after the completion of the degree, as determined by the Australian School of Business.

In exceptional circumstances consideration will be given to candidates who do not hold a primary degree, but who do have at least 5 years relevant work experience at least 3 of which must be in an IS /IT position.

These students must complete Core 1, Core 2, the Capstone, plus 2 electives (72 UOC).

Students admitted to the one year program are required to complete 48 UOC: 4 core courses (Core 2; 24 UOC) the capstone course (12 UOC), and 2 elective courses (6 UOC each) from the courses listed below.

Students admitted to the 18 month program are required to complete 72 UOC: core 1 and core 2 (48 UOC), the capstone course (12 UOC), and 2 elective courses (6 UOC each) from the courses listed below.
