This is an interdisciplinary program designed for graduates with backgrounds in the life sciences who wish to obtain advanced training in biotechnology. It is open to graduates with a three-year degree in a related discipline or who have, in the opinion of the Higher Degree Committee, acquired equivalent qualifications or experience. Prior study of biochemistry is required for the program.
The program covers fundamental and applied areas of the life sciences and incorporates a minor research component. The Graduate diploma program calls for the completion of six courses, for a total of 36 UOC. 24UOC is obtained from coursework and the remaining 12UOC is obtained from two research projects. The program is run over two 14-week sessions and can be completed in one year full-time ortwo years part-time. Students who obtain a greater than Credit (CR) average may be permitted to transfer 30UOC towards completion of a Masters in Biotechnology instead of graduating with a Graduate Diploma.
