Stream Outline

The Telecommunications stream enables students to specialise, and gain depth of knowledge, in areas related to recent and advanced aspects of telecommunications, including wireless communications, satellite communications, quantum communications, switching and routers, advanced network architecture, network operation and control, advanced modulation and coding techniques and GPS.

Stream Structure

To qualify for the Masters Degree, students should successfully complete courses that total at least 96 UOC including:
  • 12 UOC of discipline-specific MEng project (ELEC9120 and ELEC9121),
  • 6 UOC of design course (ELEC9123),
  • 30 UOC of discipline-specific L5 electives,
  • 36 UOC of discipline-specific L4 electives,
  • 12 UOC of Engineering and Technical Management courses.
In addition, a further requirement for the program is the completion of 60 days of Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications related industrial experience.
