Chinese-English Translation - CHINDS8225 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Master of Arts by coursework in Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting (program 8225, plan code CHINDS8225) provides an applied education in the skills involved in Chinese-English translation and interpreting for students wishing to enter a professional career in these fields. Students enrolling in this program are required to have third year-level proficiency in Chinese.
Students must complete eight courses, including the two core courses CHIN5900 and CHIN5901, to qualify for the MA.

Professional Translator in Chinese
From 2009 the Master of Arts in Chinese-English Translation has been accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) at the level of Professional Translator (both directions) in Chinese. Students who wish to apply for NAATI accreditation at the level of Professional Translator in Chinese must successfully complete the following five core courses and three elective courses (total 48 UOC). In addition students must successfully complete 75 hours of practicum and achieve 70% in the special NAATI accreditation examination: Core courses

The course structure for NAATI students will be reviewed and may change in line with NAATI requirements.
Please note students who wish to apply for NAATI accreditation at the level of Professional Translator (both directions) in Chinese and Professional Interpreter in Mandarin should complete the Master of Arts by coursework in Interpreting and Translating Studies and the Graduate Certificate in Chinese-English Translation.
