Plan Summary
The Funds Management specialisation has been designed to provide the breadth and depth required for successful placement and career advancement in the financial services industry, with special emphasis on positions in investment analysis in the industry.
This specialisation provides a strong applied and theoretical grounding in all aspects of the financial services industry. It provides students with a solid understanding of the environment and decision processes in which investment and portfolio management occurs as well as advanced and applied knowledge in a range of critical aspects of investment analysis. In order to qualify for the Funds Management specialisation, students must complete:

For those students who wish to extend their MCom (Funds Management) specialisation, it is recommended that the electives be taken from the following:
Note: Students who commenced prior to 2007 can complete COMM5004 instead of COMM5005.
The Securities Institute of Australia
The Securities Institute of Australia grants exemptions from certain courses leading to associate membership of the Institute to graduates who have completed finance courses offered in the BCom, BEc or MCom degree programs. Applications for registration, exemption or admission should be made direct to the Institute: www.securities.edu.au The Australian Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF) The educational requirements for Associateship will be satisfied on the completion of a University degree specialising in Banking and Finance which includes a management, a marketing and four banking and finance courses. The educational requirements for Senior Associateship will be satisfied on the completion of a University degree specialising in Banking and Finance which includes a management, a marketing and four banking and finance courses and employment in the Australia/ NZ banking and finance industry for at least two years . Graduates who have met the academic, but not work experience requirements for Senior Associates, qualify for Associate membership.
