Plan Summary
The Banking specialisation provides skills and knowledge suitable for a wide range of careers in financial institutions of all kinds: treasury work, derivatives management, loan policy, consumer and corporate lending, interest rate and foreign exchange risk management, investment, liability management and strategic planning.
This specialisation applies modern theory of finance and financial modelling techniques to financial decision-making and risk management of financial institutions (banks and non-banks) both domestic and international. The specialisation examines the role of banks and other financial institutions, their regulation and financial management. In order to qualify for the Banking specialisation, students must complete:

Note: Students who commenced prior to 2007 can complete COMM5004 instead of COMM5005.
The Securities Institute of Australia
The Securities Institute of Australia grants exemptions from certain courses leading to associate membership of the Institute to graduates who have completed finance courses offered in the BCom, BEc or MCom degree programs. Applications for registration, exemption or admission should be made direct to the Institute: www.securities.edu.au The Australian Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF) The educational requirements for Associateship will be satisfied on the completion of a University degree specialising in Banking and Finance which includes a management, a marketing and four banking and finance courses. The educational requirements for Senior Associateship will be satisfied on the completion of a University degree specialising in Banking and Finance which includes a management, a marketing and four banking and finance courses and employment in the Australia/ NZ banking and finance industry for at least two years . Graduates who have met the academic, but not work experience requirements for Senior Associates, qualify for Associate membership.
