Plan Outline

This plan is for a major in Pharmacology for science and combined science programs.

Pharmacology is an increasingly important part of the study of medicine as well as being of central importance in the education of pharmacists, toxicologists and veterinarians. Professional positions for pharmacologists often occur in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries in the testing and research of drugs as well as in administration and management.

Plan Structure

For a MAJOR in Pharmacology, successful completion of the following courses is required.

Year 1

BIOS1101 Evolutionary & Functional Bio (6 UOC)
BIOS1201 Molecules, Cells and Genes (6 UOC)
CHEM1011 Fundamentals of Chem 1A (6 UOC)
CHEM1021 Fundamentals of Chem 1B (6 UOC)

PLUS 6 units of credit from Level 1 Mathematics

Year 2

PHPH2101 Physiology 1A (6 UOC)
PHPH2201 Physiology 1B (6 UOC)

Also highly recommended, either:

BIOC2101 Principles of Biochem (Adv) (6 UOC)
BIOC2201 Principles of Mol. Biol (Adv) (6 UOC)

BIOC2181 Fundamentals of Biochemistry (6 UOC)
BIOC2291 Fundamentals of Molecular Biol (6 UOC)

Year 3

PHPH3151 Introductory Pharmacology and (6 UOC)
PHPH3251 Clinical & Exp'l Pharmacology (6 UOC)
