Description

Introduces students to ways of investigating and interpreting the theatrical and performance past. Analyses performance evidence and representations as well as history texts and historiographical theories. Topics include: documentary evidence and iconography, periodisation, historiography and historicisation, biography and autobiography, social history and the performing body, and performance history and methodology from fields such as gender and postcolonial studies.
