Stream Outline

The specialisation in Photovoltaics and Solar Energy is designed to build on the previous education of engineers from other engineering disciplines who are currently being attracted to the booming solar photovoltaic energy industry. Students undertake courses from the areas of photovoltaic devices and photovoltaic systems and applications.

Stream Structure

In order to fulfil the requirements of the degree students must complete a total of 48 UOC consisting of 24 UOC of Professional Development courses from the chosen specialisation, 6-12 UOC of Engineering and Technical Management courses and at least 12 UOC of Specialisation courses.

Professional Development Courses:

Students can choose any postgraduate level course offered by SPREE. Information on course offerings is available at: courses.

With the permission of program authority, students can choose postgraduate courses offered by other schools. A course substitution form must be lodged with the Program Office prior to taking the course(s). The Course Substitution Form is available at: :forms.

Specialisation Courses:
Engineering and Technical Management courses

Students can choose courses from the Engineering and Technical Management stream. Students are strongly encouraged to do GSOE9017

Please Note:
SOLA9001 is compulsory for this program. Students are also encouraged to do SOLA9002.
